Bittrex Global supports Whole Earth Coin (WEC) swap from ERC-20 to SPL

We are happy to announce that Bittrex Global will support the swap of Whole Earth Coin (WEC) from an ERC-20 token to a SPL token on the Solana Chain.

Bittrex Global will conduct a one-time token swap on Friday, 14 October 2022.

Existing WEC users should note that they will retain the balance of their WEC addresses, which will be migrated to the new blockchain. They will need to generate new deposit addresses after the upgrade is complete. Users’ WEC exchange balance totals will reflect the same total that they had prior to the swap in a 1:1 manner. The old WEC ERC-20 tokens will no longer be supported or be traded on Bittrex Global.

Bittrex Global will re-enable the WEC wallet once we deem the migration is satisfactory.

About Whole Earth Coin

The Whole Earth Foundation’s mission is to democratize infrastructure management, with the focus on improving reliability and performance of critical infrastructures and prevent failure and costly repairs. WEC will be migrating from the Ethereum Chain to the Solana Chain to take advantage of Solana’s chain cost-effectiveness. This swap will allow users to “collect infrastructure information and earn additional WEC” through a “more cost effective process”.

The total supply of WEC will be changed from a fixed amount of 300 million to a variable amount. The final number will be varying according to the platform’s future usage, the foundation’s needs, among other factors. The final amount of tokens issued will be announced publicly by the WEF as well as any additional minting.
