Indonesian Schools Embrace Blockchain to Verify Student Credentials
Key takeaways
- Salib Suci Foundation will record English fluency test credentials for 14,000 students across 70 schools on the SXT Chain
- Students will use the SXT token to enroll in courses, making enrollment and verification digital and decentralized
- This move expands a national initiative supported by Indomobil Group and Space and Time, reaching over 124,000 students
Salib Suci joins national blockchain education push
The Salib Suci Foundation has joined a growing education initiative that leverages blockchain to record and verify academic credentials, becoming the first K-12 institution in Indonesia to participate in the effort. In partnership with Space and Time and backed by the Indomobil Group, the initiative will see the English fluency test (EFT) results of roughly 14,000 students across 70 schools stored on the SXT Chain.
The collaboration is part of a broader program launched by Indomobil Group and Space and Time aimed at making academic records universally accessible and verifiable. Under this framework, students receive proof of course completion in a format that can be independently verified by employers and universities, bypassing the limitations of traditional documentation.
Blockchain meets enrollment and verification
The effort also includes a financial integration: students will use SXT, the native utility token of the Space and Time blockchain, to enroll in language courses directly. The approach streamlines access to education while incorporating blockchain’s traceability and trustless infrastructure.
"For nearly a century, Salib Suci has focused on preparing students to grow and pursue bigger opportunities, and worked together with parents of students to develop English for the benefit of their children. By moving records onto SXT Chain with Space and Time and Indomobil, we’re giving every student proof of their achievements that can follow them anywhere they choose to study or work."
—Pastor Leo van Beurden, the chairman of Salib Suci Foundation
The initiative builds on early adoption by Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), one of Indonesia’s largest universities. With Salib Suci’s involvement, the program will now serve around 124,000 students nationwide.
From the technology side, Space and Time sees this as a practical example of blockchain being used beyond finance. "Education systems need a way to make learning records universal and verifiable," said Alejandro Lanapsa, Head of Partnerships and Innovation at Space and Time. "Salib Suci is giving students the ability to prove their education to anyone, anywhere, at any time."
Jusak Kertowidjojo, President Director of Indomobil Group, echoed the sentiment, adding that the initiative helps position Indonesia within a more connected digital landscape. "When schools give students credentials that are instantly verifiable beyond their own system, it creates opportunity and confidence for the next generation."
The bottom line
By bringing academic credentials to the blockchain, the Salib Suci Foundation is not only modernizing how records are handled but also expanding digital inclusion for students across Indonesia. This early example of blockchain in education hints at broader adoption in the region, as more institutions look to provide their students with globally portable proof of learning.
