      About Citrea

Citrea aims to provide programmable financial functions while utilizing the Bitcoin network as a single source of truth, based on Clementine, a BitVM-based bridge, and zero-knowledge proof technology. Furthermore, through cBTC, ctUSD, and a diverse ecosystem of ₿apps, it seeks to expand Bitcoin from a mere storage asset into a financial asset usable for lending, trading, liquidity provision, and prediction markets. Citrea launched its mainnet in January 2026, and key financial functions, including the bridge, trading, and liquidity provision, are currently operational. According to the project team, Citrea aims to establish Bitcoin Capital Markets and has built an ecosystem of over 30 ₿apps. Additionally, the ecosystem is expanding by securing Bitcoin-based stablecoin liquidity through ctUSD and expanding Bitcoin-native financial infrastructure utilizing cBTC. The virtual asset CTR is intended to be used for staking and governance participation.
