Hotcoin Review: Crypto Exchange with High Leverage, Optional KYC, Copy Trading & More

      Başlangıç 8m

Hotcoin is a global, full-suite cryptocurrency exchange that offers a broad range of crypto assets and advanced trading tools designed for both beginners and experienced traders. Beyond standard spot trading, Hotcoin provides robust futures trading (across perpetuals and standard futures), as well as a popular Copy Trading feature that allows users to automatically mirror the strategies of top-performing traders.

One of Hotcoin’s major highlights is its user-friendly onboarding process, offering optional KYC verification for general functionality. While the platform employs real-time risk mitigation systems that may request identification for unusual activity, non-KYC users can still enjoy essential features with generous standard withdrawal limits (up to 2 BTC equivalent daily).

Established in 2017, Hotcoin has successfully navigated multiple crypto market cycles. Over the years, the exchange has built a trusted global presence, serving over 8 million registered users across more than 120 countries and regions.

In this Hotcoin review, we’ll take a close look at the exchange’s ecosystem, including listed cryptocurrencies, trading fee structure, spot and futures capabilities, innovative trading tools, yield products, and overall platform security.

Before diving deep, here is a quick summary of Hotcoin’s key strengths and weaknesses:

      Hotcoin pros:

      • Flexible KYC Policy: Optional identity verification with generous standard daily withdrawal limits.
      • Extensive Asset Selection: Access to 300+ spot tradeable assets and 400+ futures trading pairs.
      • Industry-Leading Leverage: High-performance futures trading offering up to 200x leverage.
      • Innovative Feature Suite: Features cutting-edge products including Alpha Trading (on-chain token access), Pre-Market Trading, Prediction Markets, and automated Futures Grid strategies.
      • Comprehensive Ecosystem: Integrated Earn/Staking financial products, Launchpad for new project debuts, and educational insights via Hotcoin Academy.
      • Industry Recognition: Highly rated and recognized by major market aggregators like CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko.

      Hotcoin cons:

      • Regional Restrictions: Users from certain jurisdictions are restricted due to local regulatory frameworks.
      • Tiered Fee Structure: Advanced zero-fee or discounted fee tiers require specific promotional enrollment or trading volume thresholds.

Listed assets and account funding options

Currently, Hotcoin lists over 300 assets which includes cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and tokenized stocks. The tokenized stocks available for trading on Hotcoin are bStocks, which are issued by Binance affiliate BTECH Holdings.

The selection of listed assets on Hotcoin is solid, ensuring that almost every trader will be able to find the assets they want to trade unless they are specifically looking for very obscure coins.

The vast majority of trading pairs on Hotcoin is denominated in the USDT stablecoin, although the exchange also offers a handful of USDC-denominated pairs.

When it comes to funding your Hotcoin account, you can either deposit cryptocurrency or buy cryptocurrency with a credit/debit card through third-party integrations (providers such as Simplex and Alchemy Pay).

Currently, Hotcoin does not support bank deposits, which might be a deal-breaker for certain users. However, if you’re a crypto-native trader, Hotcoin’s account funding setup shouldn’t be too much of an issue as the exchange accepts a wide variety of crypto deposits.

      Trading fees

The base spot trading fee on Hotcoin is 0.2% for both maker and taker orders. While this is fairly competitive pricing, Hotcoin’s base spot trading fees are higher than what you’ll find on exchanges such as Binance and Bitget, which have a base trading fee of 0.1% for maker and taker orders.

However, Hotcoin’s futures trading fees are much closer to industry-leading exchanges, starting at 0.02% for maker orders and 0.06% for taker orders (same as what you’ll find on Bitget).

Similarly to what you’ll see across the broader crypto trading industry, traders can benefit from reduced fees on Hotcoin as they generate higher trading volumes. On Hotcoin, this is implemented through a 12-tier VIP system for which users qualify based on their 30-day trading volume measured in USDT. With each tier, trading fees become progressively lower, and the 24-hour withdrawal becomes progressively higher (the base 24h withdrawal limit is set at 2 BTC).

      Spot trading

Hotcoin provides a user-friendly spot crypto trading interface that supports both a basic chart view and TradingView. Users can buy and sell cryptocurrency through simple market and limit orders, as well as trailing and trigger orders.

The exchange’s spot trading interface supports some customizations, as users can choose between three different page layouts and toggle between different types of order book displays.

Overall, there isn’t much to say about Hotcoin’s implementation of crypto spot trading, as it does the job just as well as leading crypto exchanges. The spot trading experience on the platform is simple and straightforward, which is how spot trading is supposed to be.

For users who want an even more streamlined way of exchanging between different crypto assets, Hotcoin offers the "Convert" feature, which doesn’t use an orderbook. Convert operates using a real-time quote model, with prices quoted directly by the platform. The displayed price includes the spread, and there are no additional trading fees or slippage, regardless of order size.

      Futures trading

Futures trading is at the heart of Hotcoin’s platform, and the exchange offers both perpetual and traditional futures contracts with a set delivery date. When trading futures on Hotcoin, traders can select between Cross and Isolated margin modes, which provides a lot of flexibility for managing positions.

In terms of order types, Hotcoin’s futures trading product offers what one would expect from a modern crypto futures trading platform, complementing basic market and limit orders with advanced limit order types including trailing orders, fixed risk orders and scaled orders. Of course, traders can also set up their take profit / stop loss levels when entering a trade to manage risk.

Hotcoin appeals to users who want access to extremely high leverage, as the platform supports leverage of up to 400x on selected trading pairs. In our opinion, this is more of a marketing tactic than a very useful feature, as using such high leverage in cryptocurrency markets is almost a guaranteed way of losing money. Still, what matters at the end of the day is that Hotcoin offers enough leverage for practically any trading strategy.

      Copy trading

Copy trading is one of the ways in which Hotcoin is trying to differentiate itself in the highly saturated cryptocurrency trading industry. This feature allows users to automatically follow the moves made by more experienced traders in exchange for a fee.

Each trader offering copy trading services has their own profile showcasing their profit & loss status, order history, active followers, most actively traded pairs, win rate and more. Based on this information, users can select an expert that best matches their preferences and risk profile.

Copy trading can be a useful feature for users who want potential for higher upside compared to passive holding, but aren’t confident enough to actively trade crypto themselves. Still, there are risks involved with copy trading, even when following historically profitable traders. Fortunes in the market can turn quickly, especially when it comes to traders using high amounts of leverage.

      Hotcoin Earn

Crypto holders often look for ways to earn yield on their idle assets, and Hotcoin delivers in this area through its Hotcoin Earn feature, which allows users to earn yield on their crypto assets in exchange for temporarily locking them up.

At the time of writing this review, Hotcoin Earn is mostly focused on top crypto assets like USDT, USDC, BTC, SOL and ETH, although there are also a couple of products for smaller cryptocurrencies like KABOSU and BEAM. As is usually the case when it comes to crypto lending, stablecoins tend to offer the highest yields.

Hotcoin Earn provides access to both flexible and fixed yield products. With flexible products, users can withdraw their funds at any time and keep the rewards they have earned thus far. With fixed products, users have to wait until the pre-determined time period expires before they can collect their rewards. However, fixed products tend to offer higher yield than their flexible counterparts.

      Demo trading

Hotcoin offers a demo trading mode for futures trading, which is a great way to get accustomed to the platform’s interface and how the futures market works without putting any real funds at risk. Despite its usefulness, demo trading is still somewhat rare in the cryptocurrency trading industry, which is a point in favor of Hotcoin.

It’s important to keep in mind that trading psychology is a crucial skill that every trader needs to develop to become successful, and managing emotions like fear and greed becomes significantly more challenging when actual money is at risk.

Regardless, demo trading can be a lifesaver for users that are relatively new to trading, allowing them to become familiar with concepts such as leverage, funding and advanced order types without the pressure of losing money if they make a mistake.

      Hotcoin Rewards Center

Hotcoin users can save money on trading fees or get a bonus on their futures positions by participating in various tasks through the Hotcoin Rewards Center.

Newcomers to Hotcoin can earn up to 50 USDT worth of futures fee discount coupons by completing simple tasks including registering their account, depositing funds, using the copy trading feature, completing KYC and making a futures trade.

Advanced users can earn substantial bonuses on their futures positions by reaching certain deposit thresholds (starting with 500 USDT, which comes with a 200 USD bonus). This bonus can only be used to open a futures trade, and essentially allows traders to open a larger position with less leverage.

Users can also earn various bonuses through the Hotcoin Rewards Center based on the amount of trading volume they generate.

      The bottom line

Hotcoin is a well-rounded cryptocurrency exchange that should appeal primarily to active traders, especially those interested in futures trading. The platform offers more than 300 tradeable assets, competitive futures fees, copy trading, crypto yield products and a solid demo trading mode. The fact that KYC is optional for most users is also a notable advantage, particularly for traders who value privacy and don’t need higher withdrawal limits.

Futures trading is arguably Hotcoin’s strongest area. The exchange supports perpetual and traditional futures, multiple margin modes, advanced order types and leverage of up to 400x on selected markets. While such extreme leverage is unlikely to be useful for most traders and comes with substantial risk, Hotcoin provides enough flexibility to accommodate virtually any futures trading strategy.

The main drawbacks are Hotcoin’s relatively high 0.2% base spot trading fee, the lack of direct bank deposit support and geographic restrictions that prevent users from certain countries from accessing the platform. Some of the exchange’s advertised features also appear to still be under development.

Overall, Hotcoin is a capable crypto trading platform with a particularly strong futures offering. It probably won’t be the first choice for traders focused mainly on low-cost spot trading, but its combination of optional KYC, broad asset selection, copy trading and competitive derivatives fees makes it worth considering for active crypto traders.
