Global Cryptocurrency Fundraising Report For August 2023

Crypto Fundraising Global Landscape
In August, the total number of crypto fundraising deals was 91, a decrease of -1.09% from 92 in July 2023; the total financing in August was US$828.62M, a -0.31% decrease from the previous month. 10.99% of the crypto projects are in the Strategic series stage. By geography, a total of 23 projects founded in the United States of America received $417.15M, becoming the country with the largest number of crypto fundraising projects in the world. Among the $10M fundraising deal projects, mainly the United States of America, Germany, Korea (the Republic of), and Canada.
Crypto Fundraising Deal Count by Sector
In August, out of the 91 projects that were successfully financed, 35 of them were Web 3.0 projects, constituting 38.46% of the total projects. These projects raised a total of US205.55M, which is 38.46% of the total funds raised that month. This amount is US$156.05M lower than the funds raised in July 2023.
Out of the 91 Web 3.0 projects, the most relevant are those related to the Gaming category, with 6 being in the AI category and 5 in the Gaming category.
In addition to Security, Social network, Privacy, and Metaverse, other categories of related Web 3.0 projects.
In August, a total of 8 projects involving blockchain infrastructure received $27.97M in funding, representing 3.38% of all financing.
There were 19 DeFi-related projects, making up 20.88% of all financing projects in August. The total amount of DeFi-related projects raised was $44.50M, representing 5.37% of the total financing, this was a decrease -10.55% compared to July 2023.
In August, 4 CeFi projects were funded, comprising 4.4% of the total number of financing projects. Altogether, these projects raised $106.00M, which was 12.79% of the total financing in August, representing a 121.76% increase from July 2023.
Additionally, there were 7 NFT projects that have received a total of $13.45M in financing. Representing 1.62% of all financing, this was a decrease of -56.4% compared to July 2023.
Crypto Fundraising Deal Count by Transaction Type
The majority of raised funds for the crypto market come from Strategic rounds, the total amount is $201.00M in August. The aggregate deal value of Strategic for August is higher than the previous month by 183.33%. The biggest Strategic round fundraising is $100.00M, when Tenstorrent gets funding in August 2023.
Number of Investments by Investors
In August, Binance Labs had the most investments, with a total of 9 projects, including 5 DeFi, 3 Web3, 1 Infrastructure, and 1 Others projects.
Also, Jump Crypto has invested 4 projects, with 2 of those investments going towards Web3 projects, 2 towards DeFi projects and 2 towards Web3 projects
