What is Xahau(XAH)?

Xahau (XAH) is a novel smart contract sidechain within the XRP Ledger (XRPL) ecosystem. It introduces Hooks, a feature enabling developers to create decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts on top of XRPL.

Xahau (XAH) operates similarly to XRPL itself, utilizing the same consensus protocol to validate transactions and achieve consensus on the ledger's state. The significant divergence lies in the introduction of Hooks. These are small code snippets used to execute custom logic before a transaction is confirmed, allowing enforcement of business rules, escrow arrangements, registries, and other smart contract functionalities. Xahau (XAH) is designed to run parallel to the main XRPL as a sidechain, enabling the XRPL ecosystem to benefit from these functionalities before smart contract functionality is integrated into the main XRPL.

Xahau (XAH) is the native token of the Xahau network, possessing similar functions to XRP on the main XRPL, including anti-spam protection by charging transaction fees. There is no supply limit for Xahau (XAH). These tokens are primarily obtained in two ways: burning XRP on the mainnet to acquire Xahau (XAH) and through monthly issuance and protocol adjustments.
