Bitfinex distributes the Shimmer Network Airdrop for IOTA Tokens Holders

Bitfinex is pleased to announce support for the distribution of Shimmer Network Tokens (SMR) to IOTA holders on Bitfinex.

Last year, IOTA introduced Assembly and Shimmer networks which are two new networks added to the IOTA ecosystem. This article outlines the core features and key functions of IOTA, Shimmer and Assembly as well as their interconnections, purpose and future. IOTA announced IOTA staking which would allow holders to receive airdrop of Shimmer (SMR) and Assembly (ASMB) Network Tokens. Bitfinex announced its support of IOTA staking via Twitter in January 2022, through which it would stake IOTA held on the exchange by customers, on their behalf, making them eligible to receive airdrop  tokens.

IOTA commenced its pre-staking period on 21/12/21 at 3:00 pm CET, which lasted for seven days until 28/12/21, when staking rewards became available. Bitinex staking of IOTA tokens on behalf of its customers began on 05/01/22. Both the SMR and ASMB tokens are planned to become transferable with the launch of their respective networks in 2022, with the tokens being distributed according to the previously announced distribution rates and schedules as per posts https://blog.iota.org/iota-shimmer-and-assembly-staking-roadmap/ and

IOTA holders on Bitfinex were distributed the SMR tokens on 06/10/2022 based on their IOTA balance held at the snapshot time of every Wednesday at 00:00 am UTC from 05/01/22 - 28/03/22. This was the basis used for the proportional airdrop to Bitfinex customers.

The Assembly network is not launched yet, so details on the distribution of the ASMB tokens will be announced when it becomes available.
