Sei (SEI) Network Transition to EVM and Discontinuation of Old Cosmos-based Deposit Addresses

Bitfinex will be performing a system upgrade to support SEI’s (SEI) transition of its protocol to the SEI EVM standard from the previous Cosmos-based SEI network. The upgrade will take place on 20/05/2026 at 10:00 AM UTC and is expected to take approximately a few hours.


Key Details & Actions Required:

• Deposits and withdrawals of SEI will be temporarily suspended on 19/05/2026 at 8:00 AM UTC.
  
  
• All existing Cosmos-based SEI deposit addresses (starting with sei…) will be discontinued.
  
  
• Any SEI deposits sent to an old address after the deposit closure time stated above will be lost and unrecoverable.
  
  
• Customers must generate a new SEI EVM network deposit address (starting with 0x….) before sending any future deposits once services resume.
  
  
• Following the upgrade, Bitfinex will only support the SEI EVM network. We will no longer support the legacy Cosmos-based SEI network.

• Customers should update all SEI withdrawal addresses, if any, in their saved withdrawal list on Bitfinex.

SEI deposit and withdrawal services will resume as soon as the upgrade is completed. Deposit and withdrawal status can be checked through the links below:
