Bitfinex Secures Licence In El Salvador

Bitfinex is pleased to announce that it has received a Digital Asset Service Provider (DASP) licence in El Salvador, completing the company’s regulated footprint in the country, following the granting of the first ever DASP to Bitfinex Securities in April 2023, and a subsequent DASP to Bitfinex Derivatives in January 2025.

The licence provides Bitfinex a deeper foundation from which it is able to serve its customers, and strengthens its regulatory presence in Latin America.

Since 2021, El Salvador has become one of the most innovative and closely watched jurisdictions for digital asset regulation. Its Comisión Nacional de Activos Digitales (CNAD) has licensed more than 70 digital asset service providers following the passing of the Digital Assets Issuance Law in April 2023.

The licence paves the way for Bitfinex to offer spot trading, along with its already regulated derivatives and tokenised securities activities, from a regulated platform in El Salvador. This license reinforces Bitfinex’s long-standing commitment to El Salvador, and to operating under proper and innovative supervision.

Bitfinex will share further announcements in due course as customers are transitioned to the regulated entity.
