What exactly is combining accounts and how can I do it?

What is combining accounts?

If you have two accounts on OKX, you can combine them into one, where information like your email address and phone number will be transferred to the merged account. Once the merge is complete, only one "main account" will exist, and the other account will be closed.
The merging accounts function is mainly applicable to these scenarios:
1. You want to change your existing phone number or email address, but the new phone number or email address is linked to your other account.
2. You want to link a new phone number or email address, but they have already been linked to your other account.

How to combine accounts?

On the app

Using the change of a phone number as an example:

Log in to the OKX app and select your profile icon in the upper left corner of the homepage.
Navigate to [Security] - [Mobile verification] - [Change mobile number], then proceed to identity verification and select [Confirm];

Enter [New mobile number], complete identity verification again and select [Combine accounts]. Confirm the information, then select [Start] - [Correct] - [Next].

Check the message on closing your account, then select [Close Account] - [Yes, confirm] - [Done] to combine the accounts.

Note:
The account you are currently logged into after this process is your main account, with the newly entered phone number successfully linked.
As the other account will be automatically closed, please transfer all assets into your new account before the merge to prevent data and asset loss.

On web

Using the change of email address as an example:

Log in to the OKX official website and hover over the profile icon in the upper right corner to navigate to [Security] - [Email Verification] - [Change email].

Enter [New email], complete identity verification, and select [OK] - [Combine Accounts]. Confirm the information provided, then select [I understand] - [Yes, correct] - [Next].

Check the message on closing your account, then select [Close Account] - [Yes, confirm] - [Done] to combine the accounts.

Note:
The account you are currently logged into after these steps is your main account, with the newly entered email address successfully linked.
As the other account will be automatically closed, please transfer all assets into your new account before the merge to prevent data and asset loss.
