What Is Neutron(NTRN)?

Neutron is a cross-chain smart-contracting platform. It addresses the main three challenges faced by multichain protocol hubs: lack of security, lack of credible neutrality and ecosystem alignment, and lack of cross-chain infrastructure. Doing so, it enables developers to deploy application once and scale them across the entire IBC network of interconnected blockchains without having to deploy or maintain multiple custom versions of their protocol. In a nutshell, Neutron lets builders reach a larger market, and leverage the Interchain's entire feature set, in a single, permissionless deployment.  

Why Neutron(NTRN)?

• Cosmos SDK. Neutron is built using the Cosmos SDK framework. A generalized framework that simplifies the process of building secure blockchain applications on top of Tendermint BFT. It is based on two major principles: Modularity & capabilities-based security.
• Interchain Security. Interchain Security is a technology which allows Neutron to be secured by the validator set of the Cosmos Hub and do not have another one separate validator set particularly for the Neutron blockchain.
• Interchain Queries. Neutron is bringing customizable Interchain Queries to smart contract developers. Interchain Queries (aka ICQs) are an essential building block enabling devs to securely retrieve data from remote zones.
• Interchain Transactions. Neutron is bringing interchain accounts (ICA) to CosmWasm smart-contracts. ICAs allow modules and smart contracts to execute and track transactions on foreign zones, without deploying additional code. With ICQs, they're the Interchain's secret DeFi sauce.
• CosmWasm. CosmWasm is a smart contracting platform built for the Cosmos ecosystem.

What Is CosmWasm?

Neutron features native support for CosmWasm, a virtual machine that allows smart contracts written in Rust, AssemblyScript, and other coding languages to run on Cosmos blockchains. CosmWasm smart contracts have significant benefits over an Appchain’s binary: they benefit from an extensive library of testing tools, are easier to deploy and upgrade, and can be audited more efficiently.

Why Is Neutron(NTRN) Permission-less?

Being permission-less means, smart contracts can launch on Neutron without the need to be whitelisted via a governance vote.It makes Neutron more scalable, neutral, and competitive:Fast deployment: Web3 is a fast-paced industry, where speed is key to the product's viability on the market, and a lengthy governance process can hinder competitiveness.Streamlined governance: Neutron governance remains lightweight and efficient, and developer teams on Neutron are not bottlenecked.Neutrality: on Neutron, competition cannot be suppressed. Smart contract deployment is resistant to conflicts of interests, and any project can launch. 

The NTRN Airdrop

In July 2022, the Cosmos Hub community approved Prop 72, endorsing Neutron and allocating 50,000 ATOM for its development. To express gratitude, and ensure the Hub's community is well represented, 70 million NTRN tokens will be allocated to ATOM stakers at genesis. These tokens represent 7% of the total supply and 58.3% of the initial circulating supply, and will be allocated in two batches:

• 40,000,000 NTRN tokens, or 4% of the total supply, will be allocated to accounts with over 1 ATOM staked on Block #12900000 (2022–11–19)
• 30,000,000 NTRN tokens, or 3% of the total supply, will be allocated to accounts that voted on Prop 72, regardless of their vote (Yes, No, Abstain, or NoWithVeto) and whether they voted directly or through their validator.

Eligible accounts may claim tokens from the airdrop within the first three months of Neutron's launch. Any tokens left unclaimed after this period may be permissionlessly transferred to the Cosmos Hub community pool. Claimed tokens will be unlocked over a three-month period, beginning approximately 9 days after the platform's launch, at the end of Neutron's launch event. During the unlocking period, these tokens will generate voting power.
