Gate Charity Visits and Supports Disabled Orphans Children in Can Tho, Vietnam

Gate Charity has partnered up with the Can Tho City Social Work Center in Can Tho, Vietnam, to provide donations and additional support for orphans and children living with disabilities in and around the region. From January 15 to 16, 2024, Gate Charity volunteers visited the center, spending time with the children and delivering donation packages that included various necessities.

Since 1970, the Can Tho City Social Work Center has taken in and cared for orphaned and disabled children of any age. The center mainly takes in children living with and experiencing abandonment, mental and physical disability, medical conditions such as HIV, or those coming from adverse circumstances and environments. Many of the children experience various disabilities as a result of congenital disabilities associated with Agent Orange, a toxic chemical herbicide and defoliant present in the environment across large areas of Vietnam.

It is estimated that around 4.8 million people were exposed to toxic chemicals as a result of their use, resulting in adverse health effects.

With 67 children currently in the center's care, including 45 younger than six years old, the center plays a pivotal role in ensuring a highly vulnerable demographic receives adequate and high-quality care. The center's volunteers enable the children to live more fulfilling lives by helping them reach their full potential and ensuring they receive the love, respect, and nurturing they deserve.

This latest initiative is another action toward helping vulnerable groups in Vietnam. Previous initiatives include delivering supplies to orphans at the Quang II Pagoda, an NFT fundraiser for elderly residents at the Thien An Home welfare center, and meal distribution to patients and those experiencing poverty at the Angel Institute Child Protection Center. Gate Charity will continue its mission to provide support and fundraising for important causes using traditional and blockchain-based philanthropy in Vietnam and worldwide.
