What Is KYVE Token?

$KYVE is the native currency of the KYVE blockchain. On a chain level, $KYVE is used for staking and delegating, securing the network through Proof of Stake. Furthermore, $KYVE is used on the protocol level for funding, staking, and delegating, incentivizing participants to behave accordingly.  

How Does KYVE Network Work?

KYVE is a network of storage pools built to store data streams or create snapshots of already existing data. It is secured by its blockchain built on cosmos, KYVE consists of two layers that need to clarify:

• Chain Layer. The chain layer is the backbone of KYVE. The chain layer is an entirely sovereign Proof of Stake (opens new window)blockchain built with Starport (opens new window). This blockchain is run by independent nodes we call chain nodes since they're running on the chain level. The native currency of the KYVE chain is $KYVE. It secures the chain and allows chain nodes to stake and other users to delegate to them.
• Protocol Layer. The protocol layer sits on top of the chain layer and enables the actual use case of KYVE. Every feature and unit of logic which makes KYVE unique is implemented directly into the chain nodes. This includes pools, funding, staking and delegating.

What Are the Features of KYVE Networks?

KYVE Network is revolutionizing customized access to on- and off-chain data by providing fast and easy tooling for decentralized data validation, immutability, and retrieval.

• Fetching. Uploaders fetch data from a source and can perform computational work before storing it on Arweave.
• Validating. Validators determine the integrity of the data and have the ability to vote on the slashing of an uploader's stake if terms are not respected.
• Retrieving. Once data is stored, it can easily be retrieved using KYVE's data sourcing solutions or by accessing it directly in Arweave.

How Can I Participate in KYVE's Testnet? 

To participate in  testnet, visit docs to start running a protocol or chain node. There is also the option to join  governance, fund a pool, or delegate to a node by creating an account on the KYVE app. To do so, you will need either a Keplr or Cosmostation wallet installed, $AR tokens, and $KYVE testnet tokens from faucet.

Can I Still Participate in KYVE's Incentivized Testnet, Mission Korellia?

KYVE's incentivized testnet, Mission Korellia, has ended. However, you can still participate in normal testnet to help team best prepare for mainnet launch!

When is Mainnet Launch?

KYVE's mainnet is set to launch in Q1 2023.

Release Schedule
Given the persistent demanding market and macro conditions and the fact that we closed our last round at the end of the bull market cycle, we updated our token release schedule to better prepare for possible sell pressure from earlier round participants. A "DEX first"-approach additionally emphasizes the relevance of this consideration. Thus, the KYVE team answered this inherent sell pressure with a decaying cliff and a block-based token release schedule for the token buyers. Consequently, it takes up to four years to fully release first-round participants'tokens, compared to only one year for the round three participants. These measures ultimately serve the network stability and the smooth launch of the protocol into the market.
