Decentralized finance (DeFi) infrastructure and product developer Primitive announced it has raised $9 million in a Series A round led by Bain Capital Crypto. Other investors in the round include 1Confirmation, Nascent and Robot Ventures, according to a press release issued Thursday.

Company Profile / Project Introduction
Founded in 2020 by Alexander Angel, Primitive is an automated market maker ("AMM"), a type of decentralized exchange that is used to trade tokens. Primitive's AMM is a special type of exchange called a Replicating Market Maker ("RMM"). The main difference between regular AMMs and RMM is that the price of a token in an RMM pool will get closer to the pool's strike price over time, called liquidity compression.
